What is a 866 - Production Sequence document?

The 866 EDI document type is an electronic version of a paper Production Sequence. Standard EDI formats include X12, ANSI, EDIFACT and its subsets. The 866 EDI document type is used to provide the receiver of goods with the ability to request the order in which shipments or goods arrive at one or more locations and/or specify the order in which they are to be unloaded. This does not authorize materials or labour, and it is not used to revise any product characteristic specifications.
