Are you an
Epicor ERP customer who has, or is planning to have a
Shopify or
Shopify Plus store? You are not alone. Read this blog for some tips on researching and selecting the hybrid system integration tool that will solve your manual data problems.
Point #1: Get to know Epicor ERP
Epicor ERP is a popular ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software that offers customers “improved productivity while keeping costs down.” Capabilities include: Financial management, production management, supply chain management and more. And, deployment is your choice.
“Epicor continues to help support our growth—giving us the platform to track, measure, and monitor every aspect of our business—from production to invoicing, shop floor to top floor.” - Andrew Chamberlain, Information Technology Specialist | Access Laser Company
The key benefits of Epicor ERP are:
- Grow! Integrate social, mobile, big data and more, when the time is right
- Thrive! Smart decisions are based on data- get product mix to pricing right
- Compete! See and collaborate across your entire supply chain to mitigate risk
Point #2: Get to know Shopify
Whether you sell online, on social media, in store, or out of the trunk of your car,
Shopify has you covered. Shopify is Canadian-based, but is now world-famous for fantastic, non-traditional selling solutions. Having gotten their start as an eCommerce (or online shopping) platform for selling wares on a business’ website, they are now equipped with the know-how to improve the buying experience across all methods of retail for the world's biggest brands.
And, you don’t need any skills to kick off a Shopify store. Pick a store name. Choose a great looking template. Personalize. Load your products and inventory. Ship, expand and even accept payments and returns. There are over 500,000 Shopify stores online right now. And, those stores have collectively sold over $40 billion in goods.
All this to say that choosing Shopify or Shopify Plus as your eCommerce platform is not a choice you are making without some noteworthy statistics and proven track record behind you.
“The best thing about Shopify is that it’s made me not have to worry about anything that has to do with ecommerce.” Chris Tsang, Founder, Mindzai Toys
Shopify feature and benefit highlights:
- Customizable store, blog, etc
- Accept credit cards instantly
- Unlimited bandwidth and customer data
- Save time and money with discounted shipping
- Add a sales channel like Amazon
- 24/7 support
Now that you know more about the 2 systems we are talking about - Epicor ERP and Shopify - lets discuss how to connect dataflows between them.
Point #3: Epicor has an eCommerce system called Epicor Commerce Cloud (ECC)
Epicor has invested in a sturdy eCommerce strategy called
Epicor Commerce Cloud (call ECC). Their eCommerce division connects to Epicor Profit and Epicor ERP, and to Magento and its long line of cool apps and vendors.
But...
At this time, Epicor Commerce Cloud doesn’t assist Shopify customers. If you are interested in changing from Shopify to
Magento, you can leverage the ECC. Epicor eCommerce Cloud does not provide the ability to connect Epicor ERP to Shopify.
So, what if you’re using Shopify, or another eCommerce platform outside of Magento?
Point #4: Use an integration vendor who has prebuilt integration connectors for Epicor ERP and Shopify
Here’s the good news.
eBridge Connections has a pre-built Shopify and a pre-built Epicor ERP connector, and when used on their universal integration platform – dataflow is automated and you can stop manual order data entry for good.
